Mumbai – Bangalore, a train full of poverty

As I write this I’m sat in the 2nd class sleeper carriage on a train from Mumbai to Bangalore. We are sat nervously perched on the edge of our seats surrounded by sea of starring Indian eyes, fascinated by our blond hair and blue eyes. There is a barrage of noise as merchants fall over themselves to sell us Chai, coffee and all sorts of Indian delicacies. Surrounded by unfamiliar conversation and unwanted fascination from others I’m already feeling uncomfortable. Add to this a string of desperate beggars, each more insistent than the last: blind, lame, orphaned, and you can begin to imagine the scene. The outsiders have made it inside our train and we don’t know what to do!

So what religion are you really?

Having been in Christian, Muslim and Buddhist communities over the last few weeks and moths I thought it would be fun to see how much their theologies and practices have affectd my belief system.
